The foundation aims to provide timely and appropriate assistance to meet the basic needs of catastrophe victims, particularly belonging to the vulnerable target group. In order to address calamity issues, it is coordinating with a network of organizations involved in disaster preparedness and disaster response.
Last September 26, 2009, Tropical storm Ondoy and Typhoon Pepeng brought flood, landslides, and deaths in several areas of Metro Manila, Northern and Southern Luzon. In just a few hours, the heavy rainfall caused severe flood waters which resulted in the loss of many lives and displacement of thousands of people with no homes, food and clothing. In response to the disaster, Zuellig Family Foundation (ZFF) produced and distributed disaster kits intended for the victims of the typhoon. The kits contain one 5-gallon plastic water container, one sleeping mat, one blanket, one mosquito net and one cooking pot. Some kits contained assorted goods such as soap, detergent, towel and canned good. Zuellig Pharma Corporation, Metro Drug Inc and Ambassador Roberto R. Romulo also donated funds which amounted in total of PHP7,101,774 intended to procure, produce and distribute additional disaster kits through ZFF coordination.
A total of 11, 803 kits were produced and distributed to various areas.
