Community Disaster Preparedness and Response Program

The poor are most vulnerable to health-related impacts of disasters, ranging from illnesses brought about by conditions in evacuation sites to the impairment of public health facilities and services. ZFF engages with affected communities in responding to the needs for immediate relief in the wake of disasters. On an ongoing basis, ZFF helps prepare local health leaders and community health organizations become better prepared to deal with the immediate and long-term effects of disasters on health conditions. ZFF’s capability-building programs are designed to enable communities to collectively mitigate the impact of disasters on health conditions, especially among the poor.

Some of the CDRP engagements that the Foundation has done also include pandemic preparedness for the Avian “Bird” Flu in 2007 and the A (H1N1) “Swine” Flu in 2009.
